The Peugeot 504 is an exceptional car, but few people are aware of this fact... But we have have to face the reality: how else can we explain its quasi-monopolistic success in the 70's and 80's across the complete African continent, its presence in almost every country in the world, the devotion dedicated by a generation of french (and else) taximen, its participation to the Paris-Dakar Rallye or even its integration into the army (in 4WD version) or the firemen??
This web site is meant to give to the 504 its real place in the great History of automobile, or let's say, the place that I would give her... cause me, I'm a definit addict of the 504, and if I can convince some more people, at least I will have made happy people!!

To serve you better, and also to force me to do some regular updates, here is the list of the last modifications:

03 Dec. 2007 : OK, now I realised I really had to update the english part of the site! You must believe that I'm almost dead or so! OK, here is the plot : I have, in January, changed the management of the Image of the week in the french site : I am using a Blog tool, so that it's easier for me to update and my dear visitors can comment these picture! But, of course, I've had to key in all the existing images of the week in that system, and after that hard work, I wasn't courageous enough to do the same for the english site... I apologize! So, tonight, I have started the work, and I placed a new image for you guys to get updated a bit!!

15 Aug. 2007 : Waow, I see I forgot to mention here the few updates I've been doing since 2004!! Sorry for that.... Today, I have added 2 more chapters of the Peugeot workshop manual, which represent 134 more pages of photos and explanations on "suspensions" and "Hull and Body Jig". Enjoy this in the technical page!

02 Oct. 2004 : Hello everyone! Yes, I'm still alive! Just too busy with my work and my children (the second is due within the next 10 days!!)... So, I don't always write a little word here each time I upgrade the site. But don't worry, it does get updated! Thanks a lot for all your emails, and forgive me if I haven't answered you, I'm just completely overwhelmed with my work! I love to read you great stories about 504s, so don't stop! ;-)

03/07/03 : Day after day, the content of the 504.org is getting richer and richer, step by step! Today, I've added a new press article from a british magazine : dated from 1968, this is the first complete test of the 504 sedan made by "Autocar". And you'll see that they were really impressed by our 504, yes indeed! I've made a nice job for you there, processing a character recognition so that you can have a high quality result : thanks to this process, you can print the article and have a perfectly clear text, which is not the case using Jpeg images... And you also have the exact page layout of the magazine. I'd like to thank here Stuart Bird, a british 504 owner who scanned and sent me this nice article : thanks to his work, you now all can benefit from this article! And more widely, I'd also like to thank every one who's been helping me out by sending me docs or infos for the 504.org!

02/19/03 : At last, here is a new "image of the week"! I'm thinking of renaming it image of the month, so that I could only be late of 1 or 2 month instead of 30 or 60 days!! ;-) Anyway, let's be positive, and go admire the wonderful picture of Huggy, it's worth a visit!

07/30/02 : The good news are still coming at an incredible pace these days! Yep, this time, a documentation for all of the english speaking visitors : the 504 owner's manual from the US! I bought this doc there, and thanks to Xav again (the king of the scanner), you can now consult it as much as you want, and of course print it if needed! Enjoy this in the technical page!!

07/25/02 : Enormous update for all of you today!! Thanks to my pal Xav, who has been scanning like hell in the last 3 weeks (+ rezooming and correcting all images...), the 504.org is proud to let you access to the official Peugeot "Spare parts illustrated catalog"!! More than 150 pages of precise drawings of all the parts of the 504, from the engine to the interior and the body... Just take a look in the technical page of the site!
But that's not all! Xav also decided to make a major update of the Photos of the world section! Almost all the photos send by the 504.org visitors around the world have been placed online, with many new countries, proving once again that the 504 is a real World Car! If ever you feel like travelling a bit, just go to the "504 around the world" section!

03/21/02 : Well, it seems that I have been lazy in informing you on the updates I made... Sorry for that! Well, the fact is that my professional schedule is heavy like a huge truck, which doesn't help to keep you informed! You sure notice the new Image of the week, a huge new press article (in French...) of 25 pages, and some new photos from Australia and the US! Thanks again to all of you who have sent me some emails, I read them all of course an I just love to hear your feedback about the site, even though I really can't answer as much as I would like to!

03/08/01 : Well... Yesterday was a great day for the 504.org! Indeed, the counter on the left reached the bar of 40000 visitors!!! Ok, I admit that this counter isn't so representative because if you reload the page it will be increased of one visitor again, but still, it's a real pleasure, as you can guess!
And I also have more precise figures on the number of visits, provided by a specialised site. And for the first time ever, during the month of february 2001, the average of visitors per day exceeded 100!!! This is just great! So, I do wish to thank you all for your support!
Finally, you surely noticed that there had been no major update recently, even though I often do some changes without writing them here... I am in the process of developing a database for classified ads on the site, and I decided to be ambitious and to offer the possibility to the visitors to become "members" of the 504.org so that you can modify your classifieds yourself! Nice, huh??? Well, it also means quite some work for me, since I don't know these technologies so well yet. But it will work, I promise! Until then, take a look at the new image of the week, you'll have a WONDERFUl time, I can tell!

01/16/01 : Oooops!! It seems that I've bee, forgeting to keep you informed on the updates since quite a while! Sorry for that! In fact, I had the idea last year to create a page where I relate the problems my visitors tell me about their 504 and the way they solved this, so that you all could look and maybe find there some good hints... I did this in the french part of the site, but I have to say that I'm facing here the limits of my english : I don't know the technical words enough to do this page... But I'm sure that such a page would be helpful for you, wouldn't it (I sort of need you support there...)? I have to find a solution... Anyway, take profit of the new photos from the UK and Marocco, and accept my 504 best wishes for this great new year!!

08/24/00 : Well, I'm late as usual, but good news, I realised that I had a hell of a lot of stuff to scan and to place on the site... So, I started scanning things, I still have to work on the images to optimise them, but you should soon get good new stuff!
Dealing with photos, some of my visitors told me that some of the images on the site were too much compressed and thus didn't look good enough... I decided to try to compress a bit less to offer you a better quality, but as you know, this means that the images are bigger and longer to download... it's an eternal question! So, don't hesitate to telle me if the new photos are too heavy, I nned some feedback!
And today, you can enjoy a set of very nice 504s from Australia and in the technical part, I decided to place the electrical cabling schemes I have, since quite a numbers of visitors asked for these... There only 2 for now, but I have some others to come!

05/24/00: Ok, fellows, I believe that you'll have to wait for my return from my honeymoon trip to read me again... But in honor of my wedding, I offer a top gift : a special 504 screen saver! It's been quite a while that this idea came in my mind, and there we are, this is the first draft, but it's a goodstar, isn't it?? This version contains photos of sedans berlins and pick up, the next time (if this first has enough success), I'll try to make one more dedicated to the 504 coupe and convertible, for the fanatics of Pininfarina! You will find this novelty in the page "presents". Well, I'll have some nice surprises and photos for my return... Until then, I count on you to make the forum live!

05/02/00 : Gosh!! More than 1 month without updates??? I'm very sorry, dear friends... But this time, I'm not really responsible for that : my best friends offered me a fantastic present for my wedding (in 1 month, oh boy!). just imagine : a month ago, after a nice dinner, they placed me in a 504 (of course) break, loaded with jerricans, tires, food, luggage... and they told me : "Jeff, you always dreamt of going to Nouakchott (Mauritania) in a 504, now the time has arrived : you leave NOW, with your fiancee"!!! And so did I!!! unbelievable, isn't it?? You'll soon see some beautiful pictures of this great trip, I promise!

03/20/00 : This time, I'm very proud of this new image of the week! Like I always say, the 504 is a myth, a mystical car!! You don't believe me?? Go and see!! Apart from that, I found some nice new photos during a show last week-end, I'll get them online for you soon!

02/08/2000 : I've got some technical probs with my mailbox and my FTP... The old address, www.calligramme.com/504 is currently (and momentarily, hopefully) down! This is an excellent opporunity to remind you that the site address is now www.504.org!! Cause regarding at the site frequentation, there are still 40% of the visitors who are using the old address!! OK, this time, to celebrate the100th message in the guestbook, I selected a great image of the week, sent to me by Frederic Robert, a nice visitor of the site. Go and see, it's very unexpected...and pleasant!

01/22/2000 : 1 a.m., my fiancee is going to kill me!! But it's for the 504 cause, so... ;-)) Today, a full load of new photos from the entire world, US, Alaska, Africa, France, etc... Plus 2 great addresses for parts and restoration in the US, in the "links" section! And more to come, since I have more and more ideas of things to do for you!!!!

01/14/2000 : Don't worry, the year 2000 didn't destroy me!! ;-)) But now that the virtual bug is over, work starts again very strongly, and that's why you didn't get much updates since2 weeks... 12/03/99 : Hey hey! I'm back! Holidays are finished, but that good for the site!! One word aboutthe painful experience I just had : in 3 weeks spent in Venezuela, I didn't see a single 504!!! I couldn't believe it!!I hoped I would bring back some nice photos, but it's a failure... But, ok, be positive, and have a look to the modifications I did on the 1999 page : new photo, new nice fresh info on the 504 production. And also a new image of the week, at last! And soon to come : a new page on the Dangel!!
