Australia
Here is the 504 owned
by Dave Mc Bean, an australian 504 fan who sends me regularly some tremendous
photos (thanks again, Dave!)! |

If ever you have a chance to go in Australia, you might
see the most impressive 504 I've ever heard
of. This unique 504 belongs to Michael Richards, who has sent me his
504 photo. Just by having a quick look at it, and you guess that it
is not a normal 504: dropped (look at the rear wheel!), TRX wheels,
black teinted windows, 6 headligts... Michael is a 504 fan, and he
made everything to turn his beloved car into a powerful and perfect
looking car. Listen to the result : his 504 has a 4.4
litre aluminium V8 motor and 5 speed gear box!!! Just
imagine what it is to cruise in that bomb!! A real dream...And Michael
has 4 other 504 !! I'd really like to go to Australia... |
Here is the rare 504 Diesel of Stephen Frawley, which I let him describe : "This is my 504 GLD Diesel that I bought new in 1981, along with my MillardPop-top caravan that is three years older than the 504! The caravan weighs 1000kg and the 504 struggles a little on the hills. The picture was taken at Renmark, in South Australia. The 504 was in daily use for about 15 years but is semi-retired now. The GLD was the only 504 Diesel model sold in Australia. It has independent rear suspension and rear drum brakes". |
This 504 GL belongs to Ben F., an australian visitor from
Brisbane. I let him descrive his beloved car : " dated from
1980, it is manual, has air-conditioning and a comfortable velour interior.
I bought it in Melbourne in 1996 and have used it as transport to University.
I have driven it up and down the east coast of Australia on several
road trips. It has done 270 000 kms and still does not burn any oil."
That is no surprise for those who know the 504 like we all do here,
right? |
This is also a nice 504 sedan : Nigel, its former owner (he just sold it, but still has 2 of them...) placed a V6 taken out of a Peugeot 604... If you have good eyes, you'll see the "V6" sign on the rear left of the 504! It also has a 5 speed gearbox, to be really comfortable on the highway!
Yet another photo
from Dave Mc EBan, taken during the 30th birthday of the 504 in Australia,
and here is Dave's description : |
This is a nice photo I found while surfing... Thus, all the information I have is that it's a 1974 model based in Queensland, and that it looks in perfect shape! If Sam, it's owner sees this photo, please send me some info!! |
|
This is just a photo I found on a search engine... Helas, I couldn't reach the site where it was coming from, so I don't have any other bigger photo or any information on how this 504 got this sad "face lift"... I know that this kind of photos hurts you all, but it's still a 504!! |
Australian way of living with a 504: "G'day, I'm Wally, from Australia. This is my second 504. My first had lots of mechanical problems, and burnt lots of oil, but I still loved it driving it. It had raised suspension, a bull bar and spot lights for country driving. Sadly I have no pictures of it.This one is mechanically very good. It's a 1977 GL. It's soon to be going on a 5000 km Trek from through the Australian outback. Currently it lives in Sydney. It's 504.org is a fantastic site. Keep up the good work.If you are interested www.tourchampions.com has a couple of details on the trip. (NB: this site is still under construction).Wally Crocker" No comment. Just perfect! |
Unusual but so cool. Josh is owning one of the few 504 Diesel in Australia as he is saying. Josh is a dedicated environmentalist and fuel the car with biodiesel - amixture of used vegetable oil, caustic soda and ethenol. She runs perfectly well and is very fuel efficient - he gets about 650 km per tank of fuel. You can see the 'Diesel' badge on the side of the car in the picture. Nice when Josh explains that people in his area get quite a shock when he turns the key and the 504 sounds like a friendly old school bus! |
Sometimes,
I don't want to sum up what some of you, owners of 504, are relating
to me. Because it is simple, true, and definitely doesn't need extra
comments: "g'day, I'm from Australia and I love your site
so I decided I would send you a picture of my 504. The 504 is being
towed away after 22 years of reliabilty. It could have powered on,
but there was rust in the chassis. It has done just over one million
kilometers, its been around australia almost every year since 1980
when I bought her. She has been through the desert hundreds of times,
and I even took her on a safari through africa. She was the work horse
of a large family. The amazing thing was, the engine was never replaced
and it still runs like a beauty. I have just bought myself a pug 504
ute and plan on taking that around australia! Cheers!Mark". |
First of a long serie I hope: "504 in New Caledonia". At the antipodes of its birthplace, the Peugeot 504 is a worlwide myth. December in Noumea, maintown of this amazing island in the pacific ocean... you are dreaming of Xstmas and the tropic. And the dream comes true, but even more when you spot this tremendous caledonian 504 with a lover nest at the rear. Outstanding greetings to our new provider and friend Apoi. |
Tahiti
"504 overseas" will never stop now. The success story goes on! Our old friend Tibo explains us that paradise does exist on earth: Tahiti. God, to make it complete, created the best car ever: you know which one. But for his earthly jewel, God decided to turn his amazing sedan into a pick-up so that Adam and Eve can carry whatever the nature offers them, and moreover to drive for centuries(to say the least)all their numerous children, enjoying the car, the sun, the air at the same time. This paradise is reality in a far, far country somewhere in the world. Thanks Tibo to provides us with a little bit of dream and belief!!!
